Distribution:
Occasional in the south and west; becomes locally frequent in the Rainford area, Tawd Valley, about Chorley and onwards to Wilpshire; scattered populations extend to Burnley. Plants also occur to the north of Manchester along the Irwell Valley, the associated tributaries, along Wince Brook and at Todmorden.

Habitat:
Woodlands, hedgerows, scrub, parklands and cemeteries, often frequent along river valleys systems.

Taxon Designation:
Endemic; South Lancashire Axiophyte.
