Distribution:
Most frequent to the south of Preston, generally rare elsewhere although
locally frequent again north of Colne along the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.
Habitat:
Hedgerows, woods, canal banks and a colonist of shrub plantings.
Taxon Designation:
South Lancashire Axiophyte.
Comments:
This species is common higher up the Ribble Valley in vice-county 64. Records
south of the West Pennine Moors should be treated with caution and further studies
are required.
