Distribution:
Very common along the coast and frequent along roadsides on the coastal plain;
the distribution extends along river valleys especially the Mersey and the Ribble;
also a feature of the limestone about Clitheroe.
Habitat:
Sand-dunes, limestone scrub and woodlands, hedgerows and riverbanks, especially
on basic soils.
Taxon Designation:
South Lancashire Axiophyte.
Comments:
Some records are likely to be errors for the widespread R. caesius
hybrids.
