Distribution:
Frequent to locally dominant along the banks of the River Yarrow at Duxbury
Woods, Chorley (SD5814 & SD5815, DP Earl & J Earl, 1996 onwards, BON);
Burgh Wood (SD5715, Rev. G Downing & D Downing, 2000); a few scattered plants
in the Billinge Hill plantation (SD6528 & SD6628, DP Earl & J Earl,
2009 onwards).
Former distribution:
Salmesbury (SD6028, P Jepson, 1988); Upholland (SD50C, V Gordon, 1994, LIV).
Habitat:
Areas of Betula - Quercus woodland and probably in woodlands at Samlesbury and
Upholland.
Comments:
Neophyte, native to North America, thought to have been planted for ornament
at the above locations.
