Distribution:
Small populations still exist at Boulsworth Hill (SD93I & SD93M); Pendle Hill
(SD74V & SD84A). No plants have not been seen recently on the vice-county
59 side of Blackstone Edge (SD9716) and the historic recods may have been from
just within Yorkshire.
Habitat:
On high peat moors near summits.
Taxon Designation:
Species of Conservation Importance in North West England; Flowering Plants &
Ferns Ff4(a); Lancashire BAP Provisional Long List; South Lancashire Axiophyte.
Comments:
Populations appear to have declined and the phrase “locally common”
Savidge et al (1963) no longer applies. Note the recent record for Boulsworth
Hill (SD9337, S Wynn, 2010). There is a need to visit the other locations to see
if the populations are still extant.
