Widely distributed as a planted shrub, especially about Warrington, Oldham and Rochdale. Well established at Hopwas Clough, Middleton (SD80T) and extensively planted along some urban sections of the Rochdale Canal.

Amenity shrub plantings, woods and cloughs.
