Distribution:
Widespread and common, although absent or scarce about some of the urban areas
of Liverpool; most frequent in the hill districts.
Habitat:
Woods, hedgerows, heaths, moorland roadsides, scrub and railway banks.
Comments:
The most common member of this series in the vice-county. The crimson stems
are heavily armed with prickles, pricklets, acicles, glandular and non-glandular
hairs.
