Distribution:
The present known northern limit for this species in England is near Burnley
Barracks (SD8333, DP Earl & J Earl, 1997, BON, conf. A Newton); a single
bush at Pool Hey Covert, Scarisbrick (SD3615, DP Earl, 2005, conf. in situ A
Newton, 2007). Plants at Deepdale Park, Gorton (SJ8996, DP Earl & P Bowdler,
2009); Knowsley (SJ4396, DP Earl & J Earl, 2009) require confirmation.
Habitat:
Woodland.
Taxon Designation:
South Lancashire Axiophyte.
Comments:
A rare plant in the north-west of England, the only known additional location
being in an area of planted shrubs at Preston (SD5329) just in vice-county 60.
