Distribution:
Recently found at a number of locations within Greater Manchester, first discovered in woodlands by Heaton Park Lake (SD8303, DP Earl, 2003) and extending to Middle Trough (SD8920, DP Earl, 2004).

Habitat:
Woods, woodland clearings and tree and shrub planting areas.

Taxon Designation:
South Lancashire Axiophyte.

Comments:
Possibly introduced with tree and shrub plantings but well established at most locations. Within the British Isles this species aggregate requires further study. The Greater Manchester populations often have red based styles.
