Distribution:
First discovered at Ellesmere Park, Eccles (SJ7799, DP Earl, 1991, BON, conf. A Newton). This species occurs locally from the St. Helens district across to Bewsley Park, Warrington (SJ5989) and is occasional about South Manchester. Outliers occur to the north at Leyland (SD5321) and Bacup (SD8622).

Habitat:
Woodland borders, field scrub and hedgerows.

Taxon Designation:
Endemic; South Lancashire Axiophyte.

Comments:
Considered endemic to the British Isles plants are at the northern limit of the species range in South Lancashire.
