Distribution:
The true plant is widespread but very local and is perhaps a recent arrival
as on the dunes about Formby (SD20) and may be accidentally introduced via shrub
plantings as at Birchwood (SJ6590 & SJ6591). A variant or derivative with
seven leaflets and prickly red stems is very common in the Ormskirk area.
Habitat:
Sand-dunes, hedgerows and shrub plantings.
Taxon Designation:
South Lancashire Axiophyte.
Comments:
Plants with pink flowers are sometimes found.
