Distribution:
A widespread but usually rural species, extending from Hale to Rixton and upwards
round the West Pennine Moors into the Ribble Valley catchment system. This species
is absent from large areas of urban Manchester and Liverpool.
Habitat:
Woods, woodland borders, hedgerows and field scrub.
Comments:
A form with obovate cuspidate leaflets is frequent in some districts of South
Lancashire, also occurs in north Cheshire and merits further study.
