Rubus rubritinctus W.C.R. Watson

This map has been generated by Mapmate 05/11/2011

Distribution:
Occasional on the coastal plain and in the hills about Skelmersdale. Outlier populations extend eastwards to Bolton, Rawtenstall, Accrington and Clitheroe.

Habitat:
Hedgerows, woodland borders and a colonist of tree and shrub plantings.

Taxon Designation:
South Lancashire Axiophyte.

Comments:
This species was first discovered at Far Banks (SD4021, DP Earl & J Earl, 1995, BON, conf. A Newton). The populations in South Lancashire represent the southern limits of a regional population that extends further to the north across the Fylde Peninsula, where plants are often very abundant and more common than the Rubus lindleianus, a species that is usually common throughout much of lowland England.
