Distribution:
Newton Heath (SD8801, DP Earl & D Earl, 1995, BON, conf. A Newton). An additional
bush occurred for a short time in a works yard by Appley Bridge Station (SD5209,
DP Earl, 2004) but the plant did not persist.
Habitat:
Area planted with trees and shrubs and at the edge of disturbed ground.
Taxon Designation:
South Lancashire Axiophyte.
Comments:
It is thought that the Newton Heath plants may have been accidentally introduced
to the with nursery trees obtained from the North Wales stronghold for this species.
This species closely resembles Rubus dasyphyllus could easily be overlooked.
