John Lowell for the South Lancashire 'snapshot flora' 1995-2005.
A revised map needs to be created to show the additional records made since
2005.
Distribution:
Most frequent and often locally abundant in the river valley systems of Greater
Manchester with a small outlier population at the Coke Ovens, Accrington (SD7328).
Habitat:
Grassland scrub, woodlands, waste ground.
Taxon Designation:
Regional Endemic; South Lancashire Axiophyte.
Comments:
A regional endemic known to occur as far south as Monks Heath in Cheshire; a
small population occurs just within vice-county 63 along the eastern slopes
of Strines Dale, near Oldham.
