Distribution:
Widely planted and naturalised.
Habitat:
In ornamental woods, planted shrubberies, land on the edge of gardens.
Comments:
Neophyte, native to Caucasus. Planted or sprawling out of gardens into adjoining
habitats and increasingly established. The earliest record traced is from Darwen
Cemetery (SD62V, P Jepson, pre 1987). The var. dentata has been recorded and
may be overlooked. The golden variegated variety ‘Sulphur Heart’
occurs south of Morrison’s Supermarket, Chorley (SD5916, Wild Flower Society
Last days Hunt, 2011).
