First observed in the woods and nearby scrub to the north of The Cliff (SD8201,
DP Earl, 1991) but it was not until a return visit in 1995 that the bushes were
considered to be this predominantly Welsh species. A voucher specimen was later
confirmed by Alan Newton.
This species is characterised by the hairy stems, numerous short stem prickles
and the obovate terminal leaflets.
