Rubus distractiformis Newton

Occasional on the mossland; by the Manchester Ship Canal, about Cadishead and Irlam; in the Irwell Valley, scarce elsewhere. Probably increasing in frequency in the Salford Borough from seeds dispered from the nearby Cheshire strongholds.

The red-based stem prickles contrast sharply with the green stem. The leaves often consist only of three leaflets.
