This species is localised in the Salford Borough. First found in the borough along Vicar's Hall Lane, Boothstown (SD7100, DP Earl, 1991, BON). Since found to occur occasionally between Boothstown and Dale’s Brow, Swinton (SD7700) with a further small population at Clifton (SD7703, DP Earl, 2003).

The stems are round with curved prickles, the terminate leaflets are obovate with a mucronate point. The flowers have pink petals and pink- based filaments. The anthers are nearly always glabrous although plants with slightly hairy anthers have been found near Longridge, Lancashire.
