Classed as a localised species during the 1991-1992 survey, the distribution
of this species has increased significantly in recent times as a colonist of
walls particularly about City Centre Salford and Little Hulton. This fern is
also a feature of the joints of stonework and brickwork along the course of
the Manchester, Bolton & Bury Canal. Note the historic records for Boothstown
and Eccles from the Victorian era (Grindon 1859).
