Occasional to locally frequent in the wooded areas about Worsley and along the Irwell Valley. Thought to have been overlooked during the 1991-1992 survey but it may be the case that this fern is on the increase. Recently found in developing woodland by the Glazebrook and Manchester Ship Canal, Cadishead (SJ7091, DP Earl & P Bowdler, 2009).
