Equisetum fluviatile L. - Water Horsetail

This map has been generated by Mapmate 30/12/2011

A localised species found at seven locations during the 1991-1992 survey. This horsetail grows is shallow water around the margins of ponds and reservoirs. Sites include The Fishing Lake by Queensway, Clifton Green (SD7802) and the Walkden Reservoirs complex. Plants did occur around a marl pit at Alder Forest, Westwood Park (SJ7499) but the population may have been lost to succession.

Extra records have been obtained at tetrad level as a result of the recording carried out for the South Lancashire Flora Project (1995-2005). Note that some of the records from the borders may be from the adjoining Boroughs.
