Ophioglossum vulgatum L. - Adder's-tongue

Thought to be extinct in the borough of Salford this fern was once plentiful in the Eccles meadows opposite Trafford Hall Wood (1840). Plants were said to have occurred in the meadows immediately adjoining Kersal Moor although Melvill was unable to find any fronds.
