Asplenium scolopendrium L. - Hart's-tongue

This map has been generated by Mapmate 30/12/2011

During the original 1991-1992 survey this species was found to be rare at wooded sites only having been seen in developing woodland near Greenheys Clough and on a stone wall above Worsley Brook by The Barton Arms (DP Earl & MR Pickles). The other populations were found on walls particularly about the City Centre where plants grow out of the brickwork mortar of the railway viaducts. Since the time of the survey this species is known to have increased in frequency in woodland habitats.
