Plants were not found during the time of the original survey (1991-1992). Historically this species was recorded from Kersal Moor by Melvill (1882). In recent years Polypody has been found as an epiphyte in woodlands at Ellenbrook (SD7201, 2002); Worsley (SD7500, 2002); Walkden (SD7502), Kersal Vale (SD8201, 2003) and Cadishead (SJ7091, 2009).
The distribution of Polypody is clearly increasing and this is thought to be as a result of the passing of the Clean Air Act.
