Grassland by the brook along the disused railway, Dales Brow (SD7700, DP Earl,
1991);. frequent in the Irwell Valley about Clifton where Grindon (1859) commented
this species was "particularly fine"; found in grassland by the River
Irwell near the City Centre (SJ8399, DP Earl, 1991).
Formerly a common plant at Kersal Moor (SD8102, Melvill 1882) but not
seen at this location in recent times.
