A common herbaceous perennial climber that is frequent in hedgerows particularly
in the rural districts.
The subsp. roseata has been recorded from (SJ79H, MPG Tolfree & C
Walsh, 2004) possibly from within the Salford Borough. This subspecies is locally
frequent along the embankments of the Mersey estuary further to the west.
