A plant of streamsides, ditches and wet woodland. Along a ditch at the woodland edge by the memorial to the East of Worsley (SD7300); locally abundant in Alder swamp, How Clough (SD7402); along Worsley Brook (SJ7598, GMEU, c. 1991) & (SJ7599, DP Earl, 2009); Kersal Vale (SD8201, DP Earl, 2003).

There is an old record for Kersal Moor Clough (SD8102, Wood 1840). Plants have not been seen along the canal system to date but it should be noted that this species does occur amongst marginal canal vegetation at other locations outside of the Borough.
