Found as a deliberate introduction at sites where neglected land is being converted into amenity areas. Near Clifton Tip (SD7802, 1991); along the disused railway east of Ellenbrook SD7301, 1991); Salford (SJ8098, 1991) and likely to have been sown at numerous locations within the Salford Borough in recent times.

Cornflower occurred in the past usually as an occasional weed of cornfields at the cultivated parts of Kersal Moor (SD8102, Melvill 1882); Lower Broughton (SJ8299, Wood 1840); Clifton Moss (SD7603, R Hampson, Grindon 1859). There is a record from land to the east of Astley Green (SD7199, F Bentley, 1955).

Note the recent record from the A57, Hollins Green (SJ7091). This is within the Warrington Borough where the former cornfield weeds such as Cornflower are currently extensively sown at intervals along the verges of several major roads.
