This species was plentiful in the spring of 1840 on Kersal Moor where discovered by Mr. John Horsfield (Wood 1840) although not seen by JC Melvill (c. 1882) at this location. Plants were recently seen on ballast at Walkden Station (SD7302, DP Earl, 2004).
