There are old records for Cowbane from Foxhill Meadows, near Barton, (SJ7396, Wood 1840) and quoted as plentiful at this site (Grindon 1859).

Considered to be extinct at this location and in South Lancashire vice-county 59 but plants should be looked out for in the area between Irlam and Eccles about old river beds and marl pits.
