Formerly "In the highest luxuriance and most delightful golden profusion in the Hen-pen Wood, Worsley" (Grindon 1859); along the banks of the River Irwell near Clifton (SD7903, 1923); once plentiful about the Clifton Aqueduct (Wood 1840).
