Frequently planted in shrubberies, semi-naturalised at some locations as may be the case for Broadway (SJ8097, AR Locksley & MPG Tolfree, 2004). A record from waste ground by the Manchester Ship Canal (SJ79G, MPG Tolfree, 2003) is possibly from the Salford Borough. Note the recent taxanomic change from the genus Lavatera to Malva (Stace 3rd. Ed.).
