Common along the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal, Bridgewater Canal, Fletcher's
Canal and the Manchester, Bolton & Bury Canal. Plants are also found on occasions
around marl-pits and in wet woodland.
There is a record for an old Pit-stead, Gildabrook Lane, Eccles (Buxton
1849).
