The tetrad recording programme for the South Lancashire Flora (1995-2005) indicates that this species occurs along the Bridgewater Canal from Boothstown to Barton Bridge although plants may be scattered and struggling to survive. There are additional records from Mill lodges and ponds. Known historically for a pond at Lower Broughton Priory (SJ8299).
