Horticultural varieties of Water-lily have been recorded from: a fishing pond north of Wardley Hall (SD7502, DP Earl, 1991); the large pond at Middlewood, Worsley (SD7400, 1998) when a permissive footpath was open that has since been closed; Chat Moss (SJ79D, MPG Tolfree & C Walsh, 2003); the Bridgewater Canal (SJ79T, MPG Tolfree & C Walsh, 2003). A cultivar was also known historically from Eccles (Grindon 1859). A map has been created for cultivars under the taxon name Nymphaea marliacea (Coloured Water-lily), this is possibly not the true identity of the cultivars but it does assist in separating cultivar records from the native White Water-lily.
