Picris hieracioides L. - Hawkweed Oxtongue

A feature of derelict land about Salford Quays (SJ8097, AR Franks, 1992 & 1997) and by the River Irwell (SJ8297, AR Franks, 1997). Possibly more frequent in urban Salford than the above records suggest but further study is required as this species is similar to and could be confused with Crepis biennis the latter being locally common and increasing in abundance about the Heaton Mersey district.
