Surprisingly rare on the mossland. Most frequent amongst acid grassland and dwarf-heath scrub on the slopes of the Irwell Valley. Still present at Kersal Moor (SD8102) where recorded from "heathy portion of the Moor, abundant." (Melvill 1882).
