Frequently growing out of the joints of the sandstone blocks along the Manchester,
Bolton & Bury Canal; less frequent along the Bridgewater Canal and occasional
found in wet woodlands. Plants occurred with Purple Loosestrife along the edge
of comparatively dry fields near Little Woolden Hall (T Edmondson 1953).
