This plant is frequently found on sandy cultivated ground. Surprisingly scarce on the mossland, being more common in Salford in suburban areas than as an agricultural weed.

The Kersal Moor area there was the comment for this species "The prevailing weed in cultivated ground." (Melvill 1882).
