A scarce plant in the Salford but locally abundant at a derelict mill pond, Greenheys (SD7104, DP Earl, 1991) occurring with Eriophorum angustifolium; scattered plants have been found colonising exposed peat on Chat Moss (SJ79J).
There is an historic record from Kersal Moor (SD8102, JC Melvill, c. 1882).
