Locally common in wet meadows, damp fallow fields and in developing grasslands
on former industrial sites where drainage is impeded. Less frequent in the arable
districts.
Juncus conglomeratus var. subuliflorus is a variety that has been
seen in damp fields near Moss House Farm (SJ6795) and Holm Leigh Farm (SJ6895)
