Probably extinct in the Salford Borough. There are historic records from the fringes of Chat Moss (RA Tudor, Dickinson 1851); Botany Bay Wood (Charles Bailey, 1863); Barton Moss (LH Grindon, 1882). There may also be additional records to be traced by herbaria research.

It is possible that a few bushes of Bog-myrtle may remain on swampy ground dominated by Purple Moor-grass on remote parts of the Chat Moss complex.
