Occasionally planted in amenity shrubberies particularly about Hulton. There are
historic records for native trees for between Agecroft Bridge and Clifton aqueduct
(SD7902, Wood 1840); Cutacre Clough, Little Hulton (SD7003 & SD7004,
Buxton 1849); Agecroft (SD8001, Grindon 1859).
