This species (together with Quercus petraea x Quercus robur
hybrids) occurs on the sandstone rocks of Clifton Gorge. Sessile Oak was also
recorded from about Clifton and Agecroft Bridge in Grindon's Fl (1859). The
distribution map is thought to be mainly records of the Hybrid Oak Quercus
petraea x Quercus robur and not the true species.
