Formerly considered to be common in wet woods, by ponds, rivers, streamsides
and along side ditches. It is now known that almost all of the trees formerly
referred to as Salix fragilis - Crack-willow are actually hybrids
of Salix alba x Salix fragilis. The revisions to the records
for Salix fragilis and associated hybrids will be carried out later
this year.
