Distribution:
Locally frequent as a feature of municipal planting schemes particularly about
Liverpool, St. Helens, Preston and in Greater Manchester.
Habitat:
Plantations, canal banks, county parks, etc.
Comments:
Neophyte, native to North America; considered under-recorded. The earliest record
traced is from the banks of the Manchester, Bolton & Bury Canal between
Clifton Aqueduct and Salford (SD80, Grindon 1859). Plants of the Laciniatum
group have been recorded from Warrington (SJ68E, DP Earl & J Earl, 2003).
