Distribution:
Locations include Martin Mere (SD41H, PJ Wisniewski, 1990); Whalley Cottages (SD60J, J Lowell, 2000); Chadderton (SD80Y, J Lowell, 2001); Piccadilly (SD61U, DP Earl, J Earl & SP Toone, 2004); Rake Foot (SD82C, DP Earl & J Earl, 2004); Watergrove (SD91E, P Hill, 2005); High Brows Covert (SD31S, DP Earl & J Earl, 2009); land between the River Mersey and the Manchester Ship Canal (SJ6587, DP Earl, 2009).

Former distribution:
Whitestake (SD52C, W Midgeley, 1908, BON).

Habitat:
Planted in recreation areas, in hedges, on hedgebanks, about derelict buildings surviving as a relic of cultivation.

Comments:
Neophyte, not known as a native to South Lancashire but should be looked for on the Clitheroe limestone. Ideally these naturalised shrubs require critical determination.
