Distribution:
There are recent records for the Freshfield area (SD20Z & SD3008, V Gordon
& P Lockwood, 1995); Croxteth Park (SJ49C, V Gordon, 1998, LIV); Jubilee
Park (SD3216, DP Earl & J Earl, 2008); Worsley (SD7400, DP Earl, 2012).
Habitat:
In hedges, woods and churchyards.
Taxon Designation:
Nationally Rare.
Comments:
A neophyte in South Lancashire. Planted and possibly bird-sown at some locations.
Perhaps still be present at some historic locations but awaiting rediscovery.
The earliest record traced is from Aigburth (SJ38X, J Dickinson, 1838, LIV).
