Distribution:
An occasional planted tree. Locations include Cuerden Valley Park arboreta (SD52S,
CS Crook, 1995 & SD5623, Lancashire Wildlife Trust Bioblitz, 2010); Worden
Park (SD52F, CS Crook, 1996); Southport Botanic Gardens (M Knowles, 2009); Standish
Churchyard (SD5610, DP Earl & J Earl, 2009); Scutcher's Wood (SD4510, J
Watt, 2011).
Habitat:
Ornamental plantings within woods, parks and on rural estates.
Comments:
Neophyte, native to China. The Scutcher's Wood planting is of a golden-leaved
variety.
Identification:
A deciduous tree with stringy bark. The leaves on the short shoots are sub-sessile,
opposite to each other and 2-3mm wide.
